When a serious B2B buyer lands on your homepage, they aren’t there to read your life story. They aren’t interested in your mission statement or your corporate awards. They have a problem, and they want to know if you can fix it.

You have about 8 seconds before they click the back button. In those 8 seconds, your site must answer one question: “Can this company solve my specific problem right now?”

Unfortunately, most B2B websites answer a completely different question. They answer: “How fancy can we make our brand sound?”

They fill the top of the page with vague promises about “innovation” and “excellence.” They use giant background videos that load slowly and show stock photos of people in suits shaking hands. None of that helps the buyer make a decision.

If you want your website to convert visitors into phone calls, speak directly to their pain. Tell them what you fix, who you fix it for, and how to get started. Keep it simple, keep it fast, and save the company history page for people who actually want to read it.
